North Dakota Fishing & Hunting Reports
It is the best time of the year and the weather lately makes it even better. I think we are stealing days from winter when we have weather like this in November! The river fishing has been great lately and still a few boats headed to the lake. The Sak is full for this time of the year and while they are trying to drop the lake for spring , we are still in great shape. We don't even want to worry about it now but it looks like it could be a great ice fishing year when that time comes.

Great weather for chasing roosters as well, the reports and our "Longest Tail Contest" show that it has been a great season. I am sure lots of hunters are finding new wells in their favorite hunting spots though. I am next to sure measure five will be defeated but we do need some money invested into saving the wildlife habitat and making room on the boat ramps while helping the landowners who have their own problems in our area and keeping the dollars sucked out of this end of the state here for us to repair the problems it creates. Enough politics!

While deer numbers are down, there have been some very good bucks being seen and taken by the local bowhunters. Check out the photos on our facebook page, sorry I don't have time or help to post them on this site. While gun tags are limited we should seen some nice bucks from those who were lucky enough to draw. Gun season opens on Friday, November 7th and Black Powder on the 28th. Late cat season when you can use hounds opens when deer gun season is over which will be on the 24th. For the last couple years the late season has filled very quickly and with little regard for what was harvested. It is a problem when so many females are taken. While the long distance bow and gun hunters would have a hard time telling a male from a female the hound guys that can quite easily tell should be much more careful not to shoot every cat and be much more selective if they want their sport to have any kind of a future. I have had a representative from the NDG&F voice their concern about the number of smaller cats and females being harvested with the help of dogs, a black eye for us hound owners.

Get out and enjoy a great fall as winter is not far away and you only have so many years left in your life, I have been feeling that every year. Good luck and God bless!
